“I recently hired Henry to help re-design and optimize my website. He is exactly what I was looking for considering I have a small business - not a huge company, but a personal experience. He is professional and very knowledgeable in his industry, while at the same time being a real, relatable person. He got right to work much faster than I expected and I am thrilled with the results! Highly recommend.”

Client Spotlight Wheels N Waves
Maine's oldest surf shop — Wells, ME
YBMK gets to work with some extremely cool businesses and genuinely good people, and Wheels N Waves is both. Out of a bright yellow building on Route 1 in Wells, the shop offers surfboards, bikes, skateboards and stand-up paddleboards, along with rentals, lessons and repairs.
Over eight months, together we built out their email marketing, their social media, a whole lot of original video, and a podcast. Not only was the work extremely fun, but it was incredibly rewarding as well — and the shop still uses all of it today.

Brand Identity
Fliers, Emails & Social Content
For Wheels N Waves, the implementation of email marketing has been huge. Before we came on board there was a mailing list, but nothing was ever done with it. We began sending out shop updates and sale notices bi- and tri-weekly, alongside fliers built to get the point across while still looking good. Graphic design is extremely important for small businesses — people want to see stuff that looks good!
On Instagram, we started posting vlogs on all kinds of topics related to the products and services the shop offers. As an avid surfer, I teach lessons at the shop myself, so we made videos about those too. People came into the shop who had simply been scrolling through Instagram and seen one of the vlogs. The content got especially effective when members of the Wells community began popping up in it — kids who came into the shop were excited to be featured, and it gave them a special connection to the place.
The Podcast
We also helped Wheels N Waves create a podcast, which gave the shop a way to connect with local action-sports figures and build stronger ties within the community. Five episodes in, we've had some genuinely great conversations with renowned guests, and it has done a lot to build trust with the people listening. Have a listen below.

“YBMK has done a great job for Wheels N Waves. People come into the shop all the time saying that they love our social media, and friends as well as customers who we had not heard from in years reached out to us because of it. We had to get another order of surfboards before the end of the summer because they flew off the shelves.”
